Washington, D.C. (May 5, 2016)--BUILDER, a publication of Hanley Wood Media, today released its exclusive annual rankings of the top home building companies in the U.S., the 2016 BUILDER 100. Click here for the list.

This year’s BUILDER 100 depicts a home building business that is well into a multi-year recovery from the housing crash of 2007. The top four companies held their positions in 2015, but CalAtlantic Group, formed by the merger of Standard Pacific and Ryland Homes, slipped into the number-five spot. The list is populated by a wide range of companies, from affordable housing non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity (#16) to builders selling multimillion-dollar luxury mansions such as Toll Brothers. There are a couple dozen publicly traded production firms on the list, such as top-10 companies as Lennar, KB Home, and this year’s No. 1 builder, D.R. Horton.

But a few hard-working companies were able to jump onto the Builder 100 list for the first time this year from the Next 100 list, including HHHunt Corp. at Number 79, Highland Holdings at Number 81, and Goodall Homes & Communities at 92.

The Next 100, BUILDER'S list of home builders ranked from 101 to 200, was released on May 4.

The BUILDER 100 is based on a comprehensive survey of the home building companies themselves and is based on home closings, not housing starts or sales. Click here for a printable version of the Builder 100 and the Next 100 in PDF format.
