As temperatures continue to drop as winter settles in, families will be hunkering down in front of the fireplace to keep warm. Due to the practical heat, cozy comfort, and stylish focal point they provide, fireplaces are a classic and popular feature with buyers; data from the National Association of Realtors found that 40 percent of home buyers will pay extra for a home with a fireplace.

Whether you’re looking for a wood-burning or gas flame, a modern or traditional aesthetic, these five new products will add warmth and beauty to any room.

Wood-Burning

Town & Country Luxury Fireplace now offers the first linear wood-burning fireplace on the North American market, the TCW120. The 48-inch box can be accented with a selection of ceramic surrounds from Italian manufacturer Piazzetta, available in three profiles. The fireplace uses AirWash technology to channel airflow and keep glass clean, interior panels designed to capture and radiate heat, and a boost air system for easy lighting. It also comes with an optional heat transfer kit to heat multiple rooms.

The newest design profile from Tulikivi is Sonka, a streamlined model with a wide glass door and large, smooth horizontal stones. Like all of the company’s heat-retaining fireplaces, Sonka is made from original Finnish soapstone, which provides high thermal conductivity and heat retaining capacity. This means less wood can be used to produce more heat, with radiant heat generated by the stone lasting even after the fire is extinguished.

Gas

From Regency Fireplace Products, the Liberty large gas fireplace uses an adjustable burner system to let homeowners set the flame level to suit their comfort, with heat radiating ceramic glass to deliver maximum warmth. The fireplace features an extra-large viewing area of the ember bed and logs, designed to mimic the appearance of a real wood fire. The Liberty also provides multiple venting options, including an optional heat transfer kit.

Heat & Glo’s ultra-modern Mezzo series of gas fireplaces feature LED underlighting beneath crushed glass, which comes in six different colors. Mezzo uses the IntelliFire Ignition System, which constantly monitors ignition to ensure safe and efficient functioning—the technology also can be used with a programmable wireless remote. The design is highly customizable; buyers can choose between single-sided or see-through models, two different sizes, and three front profiles in three finishes.

Ventless

Perfect for city dwellers or small spaces, HearthCabinet’s ventless fireplaces use patented safety features to cleanly burn alcohol gel fuel cartridges without the need for gas lines or a chimney. The three-sided fire cabinet, allowing for 180-degree visibility, comes in multiple materials, including custom color powder coated steel. It also includes stainless steel or tile interior finish options, and decorative elements including river stones, stacking logs, or glass chips and beads.
