As the building industry considers ways to help those left homeless by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, one Mississippi-based siding company plans to donate materials to help in the rebuilding of 20 homes.

Modern Mill says it will donate its ACRE siding to families that apply for assistance through its California Wildfire Support Page. The company says its wood board sidings “are perfect for the classic or modern farmhouse look.”

“Our hearts are with the families and communities affected by the wildfires,” said Chris Guimond, chief executive officer at Modern Mill. “We’re doing everything we can to help support relief efforts.”

Earlier this month, builder Taylor Morrison said it would match any donations made to HomeAid dollar for dollar.

“Working in home building, I’ve seen firsthand just how important community, and the many comforts of home can be,” CEO Sheryl Palmer said in a LinkedIn post. “The idea of losing one’s sanctuary and being left with next to nothing is unimaginable, yet it’s a sad reality many Californians are facing right now.”

Palmer said she spent much of her childhood living in West LA and attended high school in the hard-hit Pacific Palisades region of the city.

“Leveraging our longstanding partnership with HomeAid—a leading non-profit developer focused on housing solutions for homeless communities—Taylor Morrison is proudly matching all donations dollar-for-dollar to aid in these communities' eventual rebuilding efforts. If you would like to join us in directly helping those displaced by the fires, you can make a donation here.”

Here are five ways to help today.

  1. HomeAid and the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) have partnered and HomeAid has opened its LA Wildfire Relief Fund 2025 to support the long-term rebuilding efforts of homes in the community. CBIA encourages those looking to support the recovery effort to donate to the LA Wildfire Relief Fund 2025 by either visiting their website or by texting LAwildfires2025 to 41444.
  2. The United Way of Greater Los Angeles has established its Wildfire Response Fund. This fund will address urgent, ongoing needs, which include support for low-income individuals, people experiencing homelessness, and disruptions to community organizations and small businesses.
  3. The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation (LAFD) provides vital equipment and funds critical programs to help the LAFD save lives and protect communities. The foundation has issued an emergency alert for donations to purchase critically needed supplies and equipment for firefighters fighting the wildfire. Learn more and donate.
  4. The California Fire Foundation is working with local fire agencies and community-based organizations to provide direct financial support to impacted residents as details of the damage emerge. The California Fire Foundation also provides critical support to surviving families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they serve. For those interested in supporting, the foundation is accepting donations.
  5. For those interested in supporting long-term rebuilding efforts, the California Community Foundation has activated its Wildfire Recovery Fund. The fund is focused primarily addressing the long-term recovery needs of neighborhoods long after media attention has shifted away.

Other national disaster response organizations—such as American Red Cross and the veteran-led disaster response nonprofit Team Rubicon—are also accepting donations to support their life-saving response efforts to all those affected by the wildfires.

NAHB will keep its members informed of resources or information as they become available.
