The Red Wing Burnside boot collection is made specifically for use in heavy industrial work, with safety and comfort features borne from first-hand work site research and feedback from workers in the field. The boots are available in mens’ sizes, with a choice of Dark Brown Vaca Loca Leather or Black Yukon Leather construction, and start at a suggested retail price of $299.99.
“Safety standards evolve every three to five years so it’s important to look for work boots that meet or exceed these standards,” says Kristin Anderson, senior product merchandising manager at Red Wing Shoe Company. “After studying on-site work practices and seeking feedback from people in heavy industrial work, Red Wing Shoe Company developed the new Burnside boot collection, which is made in Red Wing, Minn., to meet the demanding needs of construction workers.”
Among the boot’s new features is the Vibram outsole, which provides enhanced slip and heat resistance. The direct attach construction style allows for greater flexibility, and the non-metallic Nano composite toe cap provides lightweight protection. A Helcor polyurethane top coating on the toe and heel surfaces provides an additional layer of exterior resilience.
Interior comfort features include memory foam pads around the tongue and collar, designed to minimize pressure around the ankle. A removable, four-layer footbed incorporates a polyurethane (PU) midsole, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) arch, and gel pod heel strike, which work together to protect against abrasions.
“Improving the overall safety of workers is Red Wing Shoe Company’s top priority, so we focus on the people who will be wearing our personal protective equipment and the specific features they will need out of a work boot,” Anderson says. “Recent material innovations have allowed us to create durable work boots that are lighter, more flexible and extremely comfortable.” redwingshoes.com
