The tool allows electrical professionals to quickly scan and pinpoint overheating system components. Once identified, the multimeter’s test functions can be used to troubleshoot and diagnose faults.

The DM285’s non-contact thermal imaging can diagnose electrical issues such as overheating panels, fuses, and loose connections, or electro-mechanical failures with rotating and reciprocating pumps and compressors, electric motors and drives, and associated monitoring and automation systems.

Wireless connectivity between the multimeter and FLIR’s InSite workflow management app simplifies data collection, sharing, and reporting, according to the company. The DM285 also includes a built-in worklight and can be used with either standard AA batteries or the FLIR TA04 Li-Poly rechargeable battery.

The DM285 has a 10-year limited warranty and a retail price of $700.
