Builders know that cool products can set their homes apart from the competition, but product research is time consuming. PCBC planners have taken the guesswork out of which new products are winners by enlisting a panel of home building leaders to pick 20 of the best as part of its annual Parade of Products (POP) Awards.

From a scheduling app to a garage door opener with battery backup and a big, beautiful ceiling fan, these products can help make your homes stand out or minimize construction time. Click on the slide show at left for photos of each winner.

Selected by an eight-person panel of home building leaders in purchasing, building, engineering, and design, winners were chosen based on innovation, practical application and how well each product accomplishes the solution for which it was designed. The awards honor outstanding achievements in new product development and this year's crop of honorees is a diverse mix of high-tech, green, luxury, and stylish wares, says judge Melanie Andrews, director of purchasing for the New Home Co.

“While some categories seemed to focus on small demographics and very small target customer basis, others were more geared for industry-wide consumption,” says Andrews. “In a nutshell there was a broad spectrum of new products that look very suitable for the millennial generation all the way to the baby boomers. It is very clear our industry is in a paradigm shift and I am truly excited.”

The entries for this year’s POP @ PCBC Awards consisted of creations boasting originality and ingenuity, with a focus on conservation and technology. “Participation in POP @ PCBC this year was easily the highest we’ve seen in years, reflecting an exciting trend in new product development and innovation,” says Linda Baysari, senior vice president of PCBC. “We are proud to celebrate these 20 winners who reflect the most inventive new product solutions of the past year."

PCBC, the largest annual home building trade show representing the West Coast region, will be held June 22 and 23 in San Francisco. Click here for more information about the POP Awards.
