CertainTeed has improved upon its existing Landmark asphalt shingle line with new ClimateFlex algae-resistant shingles. The shingles’ new polymer formulation offers a number of performance enhancements, including granule adhesion, hail resistance, and cold-weather flexibility, on top of algae resistance.

“Research and development is one of CertainTeed’s core values, so we’re always working to improve our products,” says Alex Pecora, director of product management, residential roofing at CertainTeed. “Modern homeowners are moving less frequently and expect their homes to do more than ever, so we want contractors who use our products to be able to deliver solutions that will stand the test of time. We believe these product improvements will give contractors an edge while ultimately improving comfort, protection, and peace of mind for homeowners.”

CertainTeed plans to add ClimateFlex to other shingle lines over time. Other improvements coming to a wider selection of CertainTeed’s shingle lines include NailTrak, a wider nailing area with clear and highly visible nailing lines, and Quadra-Bond, an adhesive that adheres shingle layers at four points. Existing technology includes StreakFighter, a copper-infused granule blend that fights algae formation, and Solaris, which allows shingles of any shade to reflect solar energy and radiant heat. certainteed.com
