Coverings, the annual international trade fair and expo for the American tile and stone market, kicked off Monday in Las Vegas, Nev., and manufacturers are optimistic that the worst is behind them and blue skies are ahead.

Exhibiting for the first time on the west coast, the show—which runs from March 14 to March 17 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center—features more than 1,000 exhibitors from 50+ countries and is expecting architects, kitchen and bath designers, as well as all the trades and distributors associated with the tile and stone market.

“It’s [the] industry consensus that Coverings is unlike any other show and the only ‘must attend’ event for tile and stone industry professionals,” says Jennifer Hoff, president of events for National Trade Productions, which manages and produces Coverings. “This is where design trends and technology breakthroughs emerge, buyer-seller relationships are forged, and education and learning are imparted—all in equal measure and in a lively atmosphere.”

Those trends, says designer Alana Capra, include porcelain tiles that look like wood, glass tiles, rectilinear shapes, modular mosaics, and ever-popular subway tiles. Here is a sampling of some of the products on display at the show.
