The Washington-based Steel Framing Alliance has released a new publication that offers guidance to builders who are interested in using steel framing in their homes. Its purpose is to shorten builders' learning curves by providing basic information about steel framing and then pointing them to resources that will help them through the process, says Larry Williams, president of the organization. The document, "A Builder's Guide to Steel Frame Construction," includes sections on designing with steel framing and the difference between steel and wood, among other topics. It is available for free at www.steelframing.org.
