PABCO Gypsum has introduced a new glass-faced gypsum panel product for use in non-fire rated residential interior applications, particularly those where moisture is a concern such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and basements.

The PABCO GLASS Interior gypsum panels measure ½-inch thick, and include a mold- and water-resistant gypsum core reinforced with glass fibers for increased core strength. They are non-combustible, dimensionally stable, and warp, sag and buckle-resistant.

The product serves as a complement to existing PABCO glass faced products, including PABCO GLASS Sheathing and Shaftliner. “We’re happy to offer this product to our contractors who often prefer to use the same manufacturer’s wallboard for their projects,” says Mike Willoughby, vice president of PABCO Gypsum. “We continue to focus on product development and expanding our product offerings to our customers.”

PABCO GLASS Interior can withstand up to one year of exposure to normal weather conditions during construction, which allows for their use in pre-rock construction practices. It may be used as a wallboard or as a backer for tile and plastic wall panels around tubs and showers.

“This product releases the need for any kind of tile backer,” says Carlos Dutra, project manager and estimator for Precision Drywall Interiors, in a statement for PABCO Gypsum. “Simply tape the joints with a fiber glass tape, apply an approved moisture/mold resistant caulking at the inside angles, then roll on a waterproofing/cracking prevention membrane.” pabcogypsum.com
