Georgia-Pacific Building Products is expanding its DensDefy line of wall sheathing barrier products with the launch of DensDefy Liquid Barrier. The fluid-applied barrier is designed to provide a durable, air- and water-resistant outer membrane on exterior gypsum sheathing, wood sheathing, concrete walls, and CMU.

The DensDefy Liquid Barrier is a single-component, monolithic, elastometric, STP-based water-resistive barrier and air barrier, designed to protect against water and air intrusion. When applied, the coating cures quickly—even in wet conditions—and is vapor permeable to allow damp surfaces to dry.

The product is made to work side by side with Georgia-Pacific’s existing sheathing products, including the DensElement Barrier System and ForceField Weather Barrier. Together, the products create durable protective layer across multiple substrates, including Georgia-Pacific’s DensGlass Gold Sheathing.

“DensDefy Liquid Barrier helps architects design effectively using a system of high-performance products, designed to work together,” says Jason Peace, vice president of marketing and product management for Georgia-Pacific Building Products. “For our general contractor friends, the inherent benefits of STP technology can provide labor and time savings, and, when coupled with full manufacturer support, the DensElement Barrier System and DensDefy Products simplify a highly fractured market.”

The product applies via roller or spray, with no extra trades or tools necessary. It is compatible with many existing sealants and waterproofing accessories, and bonds to most common materials without the need for priming. It can be applied in wet weather and on damp substrates, as well as temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and cures in temperatures as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The barrier tolerates rain immediately and can be exposed to the elements for up to 12 months. densdefy.com
