AMICO’s new HYDRODRY system combines a series of five components to create a dedicated drainage and ventilation cavity for use behind veneer stone, masonry siding, and stucco exterior cladding. Taken together, the system can drain up to 150 gallons of water per hour from within the wall cavity, and vent water vapor through the top of the wall at a rate of 0.8 pounds per hour, according to independent product analysis.
The drain screed, designed for use on the bottom of a wall, features built-in drainage and ventilation slots and accommodates a rainscreen up to 10 mm wide. The EZ Vent creates a space for water vapor release at the top of the cladding, and incorporates a built-in flexible caulking gasket to create an aesthetically pleasing finish. The Ultra drain profile accommodates drainage over doorways, windows, sill stones, and roof pitches, and the Amiflow Midwall may be used to separate floors or applied to frame-over-block construction. The HYDRODRY rainscreen extends across the length of the wall, and features a high compression rate and Class A fire rating.
“Even with the increased use of rainscreens, traditional building practices and terminations still keep moisture trapped behind exterior walls, concentrating water in specific areas with no way for it to escape,” says Gary Baltz II, AMICO’s director of marketing, product development and business development. “This product is revolutionary in that it provides a dedicated drainage channel at the bottom of the wall and over openings, as well as a venting system that allows evaporated moisture to escape from the top of the cladding." amicoglobal.com
