The Elizabeth Street master bath earned a Merit Award for being a smart turn on the wet room. Here, a bath tub is contained within the glass-walled shower, rather than being separate from it.

The house is on a small lot in a dense neighborhood, yet the master bath manages to provide privacy plus a connection to the outdoors. A ceiling-height picture window that’s partially frosted lets natural light spill in and offers views to the outside. Gray limestone tile runs the length of the wall, uniting the entire space. A walnut vanity with a marble top adds sleekness to a compact yet luxurious design, with penny-size ceramic tiles that feel good underfoot and that are set throughout the room. Although the shower-bath design says luxury, one practical attribute struck the jury in particular. “A great place to wash the dogs,” they agreed.
