The newest series of front-loading washers and dryers from Maytag is equipped with a new feature to the appliance brand – an “Extra Power” button, which boosts stain-fighting power during the wash cycle and extends the time, heat, and tumbling power of a dry cycle.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of Maytag, 69% of American adults who do laundry find stain removal the most challenging part of the task. Over half said they use the same wash cycle for every stain, while only 21% reported changing the water temperature to handle different types of stains.
"Stain fighting can be complicated. Some stains dissolve best in hot water. Others in cold. Now, with the push of the Extra Power button, Maytag fights both in a single load," says Sarah Brandonisio, Maytag’s communications brand manager. "[Also,] laundry is sorted by what to wash, not what to dry so mixed loads do not always dry evenly. When heavy jeans get mixed in the dryer with thin shirts, the Extra Power button helps get thick fabrics, pockets, seams and hems drier the first time."
The Extra Power button is available on three new washer/dryer sets. The MHW5630H and ME/GD5630H feature a 4.5 cu. ft. washer capacity, with a 12-hour fresh spin feature, which uses intermittent tumbling to keep clothes fresh after the end of a cycle. The MHW6630H and ME/GD6630H have a 4.8 cu. ft. washer capacity and a 16-hour fresh hold option, which adds an internal fan to the post-cycle period.
The MHW8630H and ME/GD8630H is also Maytag’s first-ever set of connected appliances. Users can monitor and control their washer and dryer via smartphone app, and receive notifications and alerts about laundry or machine status. The washer features a 5.0 cu. ft. capacity, a 24-hour fresh hold option, and a built-in optimal detergent dose dispenser.
All three dryers feature a 7.3 cu. ft. capacity, and the 6630 and 8630 series remove up to 99.9% of three common household bacteria in the extra-hot sanitize cycle.
