Trendmaker Homes, a member of the TRI Pointe Group (NYSE:TPH), on Wednesday announced its first land acquisition in the Austin market for a new residential neighborhood.

Located one mile east of Interstate 35 in the new Turner’s Crossing planned community, the Trendmaker property will offer 324 single-family detached homes across six sections upon buildout.

“This acquisition not only comes in a top-10 national market, one that has experienced very impressive population growth recently, but it will also give Trendmaker a strategic opportunity to diversify our new-home offerings to serve a key demand segment,” said Terry Shuffler, vice president and general manager at Trendmaker Homes Austin. “The Austin metropolitan area has seen most residential starts and closings in the $200,000 range. We are excited to be able to deliver quality, well-located product in that single-family sweet spot.”

Situated on rolling hills with views of downtown Austin, the 468-acre Turner’s Crossing community will be developed in conjunction with master developer Meritage Homes and Taylor Morrison. Trendmaker will offer a strong supply of 40’- and 50’-lots catering to young professionals and young families, as well as first time move-up buyers. Pricing is anticipated to begin in the low $200,000s, with a targeted grand opening in June 2021.

Located on both the north and south sides of the intersection of Toll Road 45 and Turnersville Rd., only 11 miles from the Austin Central Business District, Trendmaker’s new homes will provide an Austin address, but in the more highly regarded Hays Consolidated Independent School District (CISD). Local east-west arteries not only connect quickly to the interstate, but also provide alternative routes to the airport and the northern portions of Austin, Round Rock and Pflugerville, which boast Apple, Samsung, Dell and numerous other employment centers. Residents will also have easy access to the one million-square-foot Southpark Meadows shopping center.

Development is anticipated to commence at the end of 2019. The Turner’s Crossing development will total more than 1,300 homes across six phases and include commercial and multifamily uses, as well as a future Hays CISD site.
