The reNEWable Living Home, BUILDER's 2018 concept home, shines a spotlight on healthy, energy-efficient home solutions. Meritage Homes is building the house, partnering with dozens of sponsors to explore new technology and improved solutions for wellness, performance, and indoor air quality.
Paul Tourbaf, group president at Hanley Wood, has been working with the sponsors for the past six months and is excited to share some of the latest technologies that each company has selected for this project.
Many sponsors are unveiling new, improved solutions specifically for the project, such as the Wiser Energy system, an energy management product from Square D by Schneider Electric. Eagle Roofing Products will be installed using Eagle Platinum Tile that acts as a thermal barrier protectant to lower heating and cooling costs by reducing heat transmission by up to 40% percent, and the Carrier Complete Home Comfort System will complement that high-energy performance.
AprilAire's ventilation and dehumidifier products and the HercuWall wall assembly system are other technologies being used in the reNEWable Living Home. The walls create a tight building envelope while the ventilation system supports indoor air quality. Meritage also attracted new appliance technology from Whirlpool, an energy-saving, app-controlled spa shower from Moen, and a Greyter graywater management system.
Tourbaf explains that a unique part of the reNEWable home experience is being able to enjoy both the indoors and outdoors. This home and the Western Window Systems zero corner sliding glass door offer a solution to open the home to the outdoors.
The reNEWable Living Home and the new solutions from its sponsors will be on display in Orlando in January 2018. The Hanley Wood booth (W5761) at the International Builders' Show in January also will feature a virtual tour. Register now for the tour!
