Whether you’re sweltering under the sun on a jobsite or enjoying a well-deserved vacation, January probably seems a long way off.
Nevertheless, it’s time to start planning to attend the 2018 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS), which will be held Jan. 9–11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Registration opened Aug. 1, and the best deals are available in August, so now is the time to start planning to make the most of your IBS experience. Exhibits-only registration is free to NAHB members in August, and full registration is steeply discounted through the end of the month. Spouses receive the same access to the show as the primary registrant for free during August.
With acres of building product exhibits, extensive education programs, and countless networking opportunities, the Builders’ Show is the crown jewel of NAHB’s offerings, providing attendees with the inspiration—and targeted information—so essential to success in our challenging industry.
The show will once again be co-located with the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) as the collaborative housing industry effort known as Design & Construction Week celebrates its fifth anniversary. Between them, the two shows are expected to host more than 2,000 exhibiting brands whose product and service displays will occupy over 1 million square feet. Being co-located with KBIS provides IBS attendees with a great two-for-one benefit because everyone has access to the exhibit floors of both shows.
In addition to showcasing innovative new products and services, the Builders’ Show provides superb formal and informal learning opportunities. For those with full registration or a one-day education pass, there will be more than 150 scheduled education programs in focused tracks covering the spectrum of home building interests. The IBS Centrals, which are free to all IBS registrants, provide engaging programs exploring specific niches in the building industry.
The official IBS show homes, The New American Home and The New American Remodel, will display innovative materials and construction methods that builders can use in any market to maximize customer appeal and satisfaction.
Launched at the 2017 show and returning for 2018, the Meeting of the Members provides association members and their employees an opportunity to engage directly with the NAHB.
The Builders’ Show will kick off at 8 a.m. on Jan. 9 with opening ceremonies that will highlight the importance of our industry and set the mood for the show. That evening, Mango’s Tropical Café on International Drive will host the Official IBS House Party. Tickets are available upon registering for the show.
The 2018 IBS will finish with the Closing Spike Concert where NAHB honors its top member recruiters. Recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, legendary rock band Chicago will be the headline entertainment. The concert likely will sell out, so be sure to purchase tickets when you register. (NAHB Directors and eligible Spikes will receive complimentary tickets.)
The association is putting together a great IBS for 2018, so plan now to join the NAHB for the premier event of the U.S. home building industry. Go to BuildersShow.com for the most up-to-date information about the show.
