Scott Thorson has held a variety of jobs in the home building industry: president, founder, vice president, and project manager. Now, he has been named chief operating officer for Denver-based Oakwood Homes.

The company, which builds in Colorado and Utah, made the announcement last week and said Thorson will be responsible for all of the company’s operational units. Founded in 1991, Oakwood Homes is Colorado’s largest privately held hometown builder and is also a master-planned community developer. The company has delivered more than 10,000 homes to date.

“Scott’s vast experience in the home building industry will benefit both Oakwood Homes and its home buyers,” said Pat Hamill, the company’s chief executive, in a company press release. “Not only has Scott run his own successful home building business, he also has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry.”

Most recently, Thorson was president and COO of Citizens Homes Inc., a company he founded in Charlotte, N.C. In 2014, Thorson and his two founding partners sold Citizens Homes to publicly traded UCP, LLC, which builds and sells homes under the brand name Benchmark Communities.

Here’s more from the release:

Previously, he was senior vice president of the South Atlantic Region of Beazer Homes in Charlotte, N.C., managing eight division presidents in nine cities across six states. The types of construction performed by Thorson’s divisions ranged from single-family homes to townhomes and multi-story condominiums. Thorson was responsible for all capital management, land acquisition, development, inventory management and fixed and variable overhead control.

He also served as project manager for Trammell Crow Residential in New Canaan, Conn., where he was responsible for building multi-family for-sale and Crow-owned apartment communities throughout Connecticut and New York.
