Inspirational Leadership with the Best in Home Building’s latest guest is Mike Forsum, president and chief operating officer at Landsea Homes—No. 47 on the 2022 Builder 100 and the 2022 Builder of the Year.
According to podcast host Mollie Carmichael, Forsum, who joined Landsea in 2016, has been in the home building industry for over three decades, working for builders KB Home, Ryland Homes, and Taylor Morrison as well as co-founding Starwood Land Ventures.
“I really love the diversity of what we do for a living. It’s a really interesting profession, and I tell people that it’s so unique in the sense that we touch all aspects and all facets of life,” says Forsum, who is a third-generation Swedish carpenter and home builder. “When we are putting a deal together, we have to understand schools, we have to understand air quality, we have to understand water quality, we have to be geotechnical scientists, we have to be structural engineers, we have to be artists, we have to understand architecture, we have to understand design, we have to understand politics and how to navigate those waters. I don’t see very many businesses that offer that."
