Drees Homes, the No. 41 company on the 2024 Builder 100 list, announced the retirement of executive vice president of home building operations Dan Jones and the appointment of Tim Terrell as the builder’s newest president.
According to the company, the retirement of Jones is “catalyst for change” within the company’s leadership structure. Following the retirement of Jones, Terrell, the current executive vice president and chief financial officer for Drees Homes, will be promoted to the role of president. David Drees will continue to serve as the home builder’s CEO.
Terrell has been a strategic partner for Drees Homes since 2017, guiding key decisions and overseeing several departments, according to the company. In the CFO role, he oversaw the Drees Homes accounting, treasury, tax, human resources, information technology, purchasing, operations, legal, First Equity Mortgage, and Stability Title divisions. Prior to joining Drees, he served as the vice president of financial and capital management at the Kroger Company.
“For 96-years, the incredibly talented team members at Drees Homes have been enriching lives by making it easy for families to build their dream home,” Terrell says. “It’s an honor to be part of a company with such a rich heritage, and I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated team to further accelerate our growth and enhance the home buyer experience.”
The retiring Jones joined Drees Homes in 2001 following the acquisition of Zaring Homes, where he served as president. In his most recent role with Drees Homes, he oversaw the builder’s 13 metropolitan divisions and led marketing, production, land, and product strategy.
“Dan’s leadership, ability to pivot, and dedication to supporting his team have been crucial to our success,” CEO David Drees says, “Dan’s genuine care for people and unwavering loyalty to Drees and the Drees family have left an indelible mark.”
The strategic shifts come as Fort Michell, Kentucky-based Drees Homes counts down to its 100th anniversary in 2028. The home builder will be focused on its Centennial Strategy moving forward, which is focused on growing operations nationally and locally while also continuing to enhance the home buyer experience. The builder operates in Cincinnati, northern Kentucky; Cleveland; Indianapolis; Jacksonville, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Raleigh, North Carolina; Washington, D.C.; Austin, Texas; Dallas; and Houston.
