KB Home, No. 7 on the 2026 Builder 100 list, has expanded into Atlanta and has acquired 110 homesites in the market. Set to open its first new-home community, Whitley Meadows, in early 2027, KB anticipates it to be the first of many in the coming years.

Whitley Meadows will be located in Bethlehem, Georgia, which is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and small-town charm. Homes will range from 2,000 to 3,100 square feet and planned amenities include a pool, cabana, playground, and walking trails.

In a May 2026 report of the market, Zonda notes that metro Atlanta’s sprawling geography has helped push job centers beyond its core, making a downtown commute less necessary. Major employers are increasingly locating in exurbs, like Bethlehem. Zoned for highly rated schools, KB’s first Atlanta-area community will provide access to State Road 316 and Interstate 85 for an easy commuting.

In conjunction with the expansion, Bill Schmidt will lead operations throughout the region with more than 35 years in home building, including over 25 in the Atlanta market. Schmidt joined KB last year as division president and will oversee land acquisition, construction, sales, and customer service for the area.

“Bill’s broad experience across multiple disciplines, combined with his deep knowledge of the Atlanta housing market, has been invaluable as we establish our presence in the region,” says Vince DePorre, regional president of KB Home. “We are excited about the long-term opportunities in Atlanta and look forward to growing our footprint in the market in the years ahead.”
