Audio For All

By BUILDER Magazine Staff. The perception that only the rich and famous, or geeked out engineers can either afford or understand distributed audio must change, says the Distributed Audio Alliance (DAA). That’s why the new 15-member group joined forces with the Consumer Electronics Association to launch an educational Web site. The site, www.multiroomaudio.org, is broken into four sections: information on the DAA and its partners; tips for consumers; insights for builders installing multi-room audio; and an online press room. “Assuming a house is prewired and the owner has an AV receiver, the average cost of distributed audio is only about $500 to $1,000 per room,” says Peter Hoagland, the DAA’s chair, and director of marketing for Russound.
