Texas-based David Weekley Homes, the nation’s second largest privately held builder, is counting on John Johnson to continue the company’s growth as the new CEO. Formerly the company’s COO, the 15-year Weekley veteran will be in charge of the builder’s long-term strategy, in addition to his current responsibilites as president. During his tenure with Weekley, Johnson introduced the Commitment to Excellence program, which has led the company to several notable achievements such as ranking high on J.D. Power and Associates’ customer satisfaction study and earning a spot on Fortune magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Companies to Work For” four times.

As a result of significant growth in key markets, including the creation of two new divisions in Arizona and Northern Virginia, MDC Holdings, whose subsidiaries build under the name Richmond American Homes, recently promoted five employees to new management positions. The company has named Chad Yetka president of Home American Mortgage Corp. in Denver, Douglas Miller as president of the new Virginia Central division, Micah Victory as division president in Chicago, Wendy Harrison as president of the Las Vegas South division, and Harry Lourimore as executive vice president of the new Phoenix West division.

Also climbing the coporate ladder, Mike Edge will take on more responsibility as the real estate director for all Choice Homes operations. Most recently the senior land manager for the Tarrant County, Texas, region, Edge will now head all land acquisitions, market feasibility studies, and contract negotiations companywide.
