Simpson Strong-Tie’s new Fascia-Fastening Solution is designed to accommodate and securely fasten both composite and PVC fascia boards. It allows for the expansion and contraction of installed fascia boards, preventing material failure from exposure to environments.
The Fascia-Fastening Solution is designed for use with ½” to ¾” fascia boards. It consists of two parts – a stainless-steel, corrosion-resistant fascia screw and a fascia counterbore bit, which counterbores a hole through the fascia material that is wider than the shank of the screw. The screw is then driven through the counterbored fascia material and into the substrate.
The wider counterbored hole not only enables the screw head to sit flush with the surface, but also provides space for the boards to expand and contract. This can prevent structural failure and reduce jobsite callbacks.
The screw, which is sold in packs of 75, features Type 316 stainless steel, a low-profile pancake head that resists pullover, and twelve color options for its heads, including white and multiple shades of red, gray, tan and brown. The fascia counterbore bit, sold separately in single quantities, features a ¼” arbor size, a 0.25” bore diameter and a 0.41” counterbore diameter. www.strongtie.com
