Smart doorbell company Ring has launched a new connected video doorbell for professional installation in new homes. The Ring Video Doorbell Elite is a flush-mounted doorbell hardwired to the home and powered over Ethernet, with the option to connect via Wi-Fi. The doorbell allows homeowners to remotely monitor their home security via smartphone.
The system has a video camera and built-in microphone and speakers with two-way audio capability so homeowners can interact with those at their door through Ring’s app. The camera has a 160 degree horizontal and 90 degree vertical field of view, and homeowners can create and customize motion zones with motion-activated alerts that notify homeowners when movement is detected. The camera also has a infrared camera with night vision.

Ring
Ring’s existing doorbell products have been popular among consumers and DIYers for easy installation, but the new Video Doorbell Elite is designed to be professionally installed by builders and flush-mounted to the home’s exterior. The doorbells are also installed in all Wi-Fi Certified homes designed by Lennar. With the strong Ethernet connection, the doorbell will always stay connected and maintain power.
The doorbell is weather resistant and can withstand hot and cold temperatures from -5 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, is available in four colors (Satin Nickel, Pearl White, Venetian, and Satin Black) and currently costs $499. For an extra monthly fee of $3, homeowners can chose to have Ring record doorbell video activity and save videos for up to six months.
