In an effort to coax prospective home buyers off the fence and into the market, Centex on Wednesday announced it will hold more than 140 nationwide seminars starting this Friday "to help homebuyers understand and navigate the process to new home ownership in today's market."
Dubbed Ask-A-Centexpert, the seminars will be held in Centex markets in Arizona, California, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virgina and Washington state. Each seminar will feature representatives from Centex Homes, CTX Mortgage and Commerce Title who will attempt to clear up questions prospective home buyers may have regarding down payments, the federal tax credit for first-time home buyers, payments, credit scores and other issues.
"Buying a home in today's market can be confusing--particularly for a first-time buyer," said Robert S. Stewart, Centex's senior vice president for strategy, marketing, sales and corporate development. "People who come to the seminars with questions will leave with answers on topics ranging from the federal housing tax credit to mortgage programs."
The seminar is free, but participants are being asked to sign up in advance.
