Building products manufacturer Ply Gem is entering fourth consecutive year of support for affordable home construction through the Ply Gem Home for Good project, which supports Habitat for Humanity’s building efforts with donated funds and building materials.
Country music stars Jon Pardi and Lauren Alaina will serve as 2019’s Home for Good project ambassadors, following fellow country stars Alan Jackson in 2016 and Darius Rucker in 2017-2018. “I partnered with Ply Gem and Habitat for Humanity last year on several homes in Cleveland, Ohio and I was able to be there to help welcome the families into their new homes,” Alaina says. “I think I was just as excited as they were! It was so special and I’m looking forward to doing even more this year.”
As ambassadors, both Pardi and Alaina will promote, support, and participate in the project’s efforts throughout the year. “I grew up in a community where neighbors helping each other is just how it’s done,” Pardi says. “So, when the opportunity came up to work with Ply Gem and Habitat for Humanity families, it was an easy decision—Absolutely! Let’s go help build some houses!”
Since the start of the Home for Good project in 2016, Ply Gem has donated a total of $2.3 million in exterior building products and funds to Habitat for Humanity, supporting nearly 500 homes built or remodeled throughout the country. The manufacturer supports this effort with advertising and social media initiatives encouraging donations from employees and customers.
“By donating the quality products we manufacture – like windows and vinyl siding to Habitat for Humanity – we’ve helped to build nearly 500 homes in 90 neighborhoods,” says Jim Metcalf, the chairman and CEO of Ply Gem. “We are committed to helping to make home ownership a reality for those in need of affordable housing and we are passionate about contributing to communities where people live, work and play.”
