William Lyon Homes has acquired 315 acres in the City of Hutto outside Austin to develop a new master-planned community.

The land, approximately two miles north of downtown Hutto and between Ed Schmidt Boulevard and FM 1660 North, was purchased from the Wallin and Overton families.

Bryan Havel, Division President for William Lyon Homes, said he envisions the development, which is yet unnamed, to be a destination community for the Hutto area highlighted by a 6.5-acre community center, multiple park and playscape areas as well as an extensive trail system.

“Our vision is for a place that invites people to gather and put down roots,” he said. “We are very grateful to Precinct 4 Williamson County Commissioner Russ Boles and Mr. Gary Brown for their assistance in helping us acquire the property.”

Development on the Hutto project is expected to begin this summer, with home sales starting in 2020. William Lyon Homes is planning to offer various home designs and sizes from attached and alley-loaded home sites to more traditional options that can accommodate a vast spectrum of home buyer preferences, Havel said. The new home prices are projected to start in the low $200,000s.

William Lyon Homes has expanded its footprint in Central Texas considerably since purchasing RSI Communities last year and is expected to close on 600+ homes this year in the Austin area, Havel said. William Lyon Homes builds in 13 Austin communities. Pricing ranges from the mid $200,000s to nearly $500,000.
