A farm-focused community for active adults under construction near Richmond, Va., received an overwhelming amount of interest at its grand opening earlier this month.
With a limited amount of initial home sites for sale, The Crescent Group, developer of Chickahominy Falls, held a drawing among potential buyers for 21 buyers to become founding homeowners.
“The response to Chickahominy Falls has been overwhelmingly positive since day one,” says Roger Glover, Crescent Group principal. “Our vision of healthy living in a farm-inspired community with opportunities for work and play has really struck a chord with 55+ home buyers."
The heart of the community will be Woodside Farms, a 10-acre working farm that will produce a variety of kale, wild flowers, spinach, collards, squash and daisies. Currently in framing, the Barn at Woodside Farms will serve as both a working barn and social center for the community, with professional demonstration kitchen and entertainment areas inside and out.
Located about 20 minutes from downtown Richmond, Chickahominy Falls is situated on 180 acres and is is the first and only “agri-community” in the Greater Richmond area blending age-qualified residences, amenities, orchards and a working farm, the developer says. Over 73 of the community’s 180 acres will be dedicated to the farm and orchards, and anchoring the recreation, health and wellness amenities will be a clubhouse, fitness center, pool, and an elaborate network of walking trails and exercise stations that will wind throughout the community alongside mature trees, gardens, open spaces, a neighborhood pond, and the Chickahominy River.
