CONCRETE FLOORING

Photographer: Trent Bell Polished concrete is a popular choice for kitchen flooring for many reasons: It’s durable, easy to clean, comes in unlimited colors, can accommodate sub-floor heating systems, and acts as a thermal mass to store heat during the day and release it at night. The look can be replicated at a lower price point with linoleum, which also boasts sustainable qualities. The nontoxic material made from linseed oil is easy to install and maintain. Some manufacturers even offer concrete-look linoleum. Case in point: the 16 colors from Forbo’s Marmoleum Concrete collection mimic the fine color nuances of the real thing.
