Sixty percent of experts agree that bringing nature into the design of a home will be the top interior design trend in 2025, according to Fixr’s Interior Design and Color Trends Report 2025.

Following the more organic aesthetic, 36% of industry professionals say curves will be popular in 2025 as furniture and home design rounds edges and leaves more rigid features behind. Multifunctional spaces that often combine guest rooms, offices, playrooms, or exercise areas will continue to be a top trend, according to 31% of experts.

While minimalism is normally cold and less inviting, 27% of experts say cozy minimalism will rise as a trend. Cozy minimalism combines minimalism with more flexibility and playfulness. On the other end of the spectrum, 25% of pros say maximalism and bold statements will be very popular.

Complementing the top five design trends, eco-friendliness/sustainability (21%); casual, comfortable furniture (19%); calming color palettes (16%); and sculptural furniture (12%) will also become popular in 2025.

As color makes a bold comeback in 2025, 55% of industry experts say color drenching will be the top color trend. Color drenching involves painting the walls, trim, cabinetry, and ceiling a unified color for a bold look.

Color trends in interior design will also see warm neutrals (49%) and dark, earthy greens (48%) continue to rise in popularity, which are both in keeping with biophilic design.

Experts say other color trends for 2025 will include deep jewel tones (34%); rustic browns, grays, and taupes (34%); colorful patterns and textures (28%); wood tones/paneling (28%); painting ceilings (24%); rich, earthy reds (24%); bold mixes of candied tones (19%); black walls (12%); and painted archways and door frames (10%).

Considering colors of the year from major paint brands, industry professionals’ top picks are Truffle by STAINMASTER (22%), Raku by C2 (18%), and Hammered Black by Krylon (12%). All of which are darker hues that play well in color drenching.

Cozy minimalism transfers into real estate trends where 85% of industry pros say soft or warm whites add the most value to a living area when selling a home. Similarly, greige and beige follow at 28% and 24%, respectively.

In bedrooms, 76% say warm neutrals add the most value followed by soft or warm whites (42%) and earthy greens (25%). For home exteriors, the top picks for siding are off-white (45%), natural wood (36%), dark gray (24%), natural stone (18%), taupe (18%), and light gray (15%).
