Sherwin-Williams has announced its Loneliest Color of the Year for 2026, Offbeat Green, a quirky, citrus-lime hue with warm yellow undertones. Offbeat Green becomes the latest addition to the Loneliest Color of the Year lineup, following Radiant Lilac (2025) and Kingdom Gold (2024).

The Loneliest Color of the Year is an intentional counterstatement to the much-hyped paint colors of the year announcements, an annual ritual in interior design’s trend cycle that reveals the hottest colors and points to top trends to watch.

Where paint colors of the year focus on the colors experts think will be most influential in the coming year, the Loneliest Color pick represents the least tinted shade.

But as Sherwin-Williams notes, these lesser-known colors still hold creative possibilities and encourage consumers to trust their own taste. This concept is on point with the value homeowners currently place on personal expression at home, especially in new builds.

“Offbeat Green SW 6706 is a bold yet grounded expression of individuality that reflects how people want to live today,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams.

The Sherwin-Williams Loneliest Color archive leans into the belief that popularity doesn’t equal beauty. “This year’s Loneliest Color shows that even an unexpected choice can become something beautiful and approachable in the right setting. It’s a powerful reminder that the most authentic spaces are the ones shaped by what feels right to you,” adds Wadden.

Green had a moment in 2025, with many of the paint brands embracing various earthy shades for paint color of the year picks. Offbeat Green, as its paint color name suggests, captures some of that vitality, but sits slightly on the fringes of color trends, and pairs well with other hues. Strategically placed, it can bring warmth as a main color or as an accent for a statement-making space.

The Loneliest Color of the Year campaign also includes a partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation through the PROMISE Project by Sherwin-Williams, a homeownership education center that provides resources and guidance to help individuals and families navigate the path to homeownership.
