The DeKauri bath credenza, a collaboration piece between Dekton by Cosentino, Italian furniture maker Riva 1920, and architect and designer Daniel Germani, received the Best of KBIS 2018 Bath Silver award during its debut at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show from January 9th-11th, 2018 in Orlando, Fla.

The freestanding enclosed bathroom vanity features a washbasin crafted from Dekton by Cosentino, an ultra-compact surfacing material that requires little maintenance, offers very low water absorption, and is stain, scratch, UV, and impact resistant. It takes its name from the outer credenza, crafted by Riva 1920 from its exclusive 50,000-year-old Kauri wood, which has been aged under mud and water for thousands of years in New Zealand. The vanity features lighting by Juniper Design and a faucet by Fantini Rubinetti. The credenza-inspired design conceals the sink and storage when it is not in use.

The DeKauri vanity is designer Daniel Germani’s fifth collaboration with Cosentino and his second with Riva 1920. “When it comes to the kitchen there are ingenious, innovative design solutions to hide and store everything,” David Germani says. “But that’s not always the case in the bathroom. I realized bathroom storage has at its core remained the same.”

“DeKauri transforms incredibly utilitarian parts of the bath into something incredibly beautiful. It helps take away the feeling of being in a bathroom. I could very easily see this in a master suite, a power room, or even in an open-concept bedroom where the sleeping space and bath flow into one another,” says Germani.

Following its success at KBIS, Cosentino plans to exhibit DeKauri at Salone Milan this April. The wooden credenza is also available in inlays of walnut, wenge, and cedar wood. www.cosentino.com
