It may come as no surprise that the client’s favorite color is kiwi green, but this kitchen’s palette is green in more ways than one. High-efficiency lighting and appliances notwithstanding, interior designer Leslie Lamarre also specified a host of eco-friendly finishes, including LED lighting, FSC-certified Plyboo cabinets, Ecoresin cabinet panels embedded with bamboo rings and thatch, cork tile flooring, and a silica tile backsplash. The countertops along the walls are Fireclay “bottlestone,” a material made with 80 percent post-consumer recycled glass. And the island countertop is Vetrazzo, a similar product made with recycled glass derived from curbside recycling programs. Continuing the no waste mantra, the cabinet and drawer pulls were fashioned out of leftover Ecoresin scraps.
