Thirty-eight states added construction jobs between March 2018 and March 2019, according to a data analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Additionally, the AGC reports 29 states added construction jobs between February and March.

The 12-month increase is consistent with recent data reports. The AGC reported 37 states added jobs between February 2018 and February 2019 while 44 states added jobs during the 2018 calendar year. The month-to-month increase in construction jobs is an improvement on the most recent data. Only 16 states added construction jobs between January and February, according to the AGC.

“Although construction has added jobs in many states at a higher rate than the private sector as a whole in the past year, the record number of job openings at the end of February shows contractors would add even more workers if they could,” AGC chief economist Ken Simonson said in a public statement. “There is no sign of a let-up in the demand for construction workers.”
