Construction employment increased in 63% of the 358 metro areas analyzed by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) between November 2018 and November 2019. The AGC also reported that a majority of firms expect to keep adding workers in 2020, but many are finding it more difficult to fill positions.

The AGC also reported construction spending rose 4.1% from November 2018 to November 2019. The association reported the majority of surveyed firms in its 2020 Outlook study were optimistic about the dollar value of projects available.
