The Building Talent Foundation (BTF), a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the residential construction pool, has partnered with the Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) to expand awareness of floor covering trade careers and promote scholarships and training opportunities available.

“BTF has similar goals to FCEF,” says Jim Aaron, executive director of FCEF. “We’re both working toward these goals in different ways, so collaboration will help us both reach a wider audience and achieve stronger impact.”

BTF was established by 20 leading home building companies and is committed to building a sustainable residential construction workforce. According to the organization, flooring is “often forgotten,” when considering trade careers. FCEF’s initiatives help recruit and place flooring craftsmen. The organization recently, in partnership with the International Certified Flooring Installers Association, the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation, and the National Wood Flooring Association, created the Basic Floor Covering Installation program for the technical college system. The program recently received accreditation. The organizations are also developing a high school program to be embedded within a four-year construction program.

As part of the partnership with BTF, FCEF will promote training with its approved providers and scholarship opportunities on BTF’s residential career website, JobsToBuild. The organizations will jointly launch a flooring career informational page to provide interested individuals with opportunities to learn more about the sector. Additionally, FCEF will offer BTF’s job board as a tool to both flooring craftspeople looking for career opportunities and employers looking for talent.

“A big part of our mission is to help connect flooring craftsmen with job opportunities, and BTF helps us streamline that process,” Aaron says. “BTF’s platform will help us connect employers with those looking for work in the construction industry.”

BTF will provide career coaching and job placement assistance to FCEF graduates and scholarship recipients who register on JobsToBuild.

“Building Talent Foundation is committed to helping individuals secure fulfilling careers in residential construction,” Branka Minic, CEO of BTF, says. “We’re excited to partner with FCEF and raise awareness among young people and career changes about the rewarding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in this segment of the home building industry.”

BTF has recently entered partnerships with SkillPointe Foundation, the Southern Careers Institute in Texas, M.T. Copeland Technologies, and the Painting Contractors Association to provide career coaching and job placement services to students involved with each organization.
