The Building Talent Foundation (BTF) has partnered with the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FSHCC), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the economic advancement of Florida’s Hispanic business community. Home builder Lennar, a key member of each nonprofit, helped broker the partnership between the two organizations.
The partnership will support the growth of Hispanic construction companies with a new source of qualified skilled workers.
As of 2023, Hispanics make up approximately 34% of the national construction workforce. In Florida, the share is significantly higher, with Hispanics accounting for 59% of the construction workforce.
“We’re excited to work with the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to fuel the growth of Hispanic firms in the construction industry and empower youth to become home builders,” Branka Minic, CEO of BTF, says. “This partnership strengthens our commitment to bridging the talent gap by connecting job seekers with career opportunities.”
BTF actively works to connect job seekers with opportunities in the industry, ensuring individuals from all backgrounds have access to stable careers and growth in the construction sector. BTF and FSHCC say their partnership underscores the significant role the Hispanic community and businesses play in the growth and sustainability of home building.
Through the partnership, both organizations are committed to enhancing workforce diversity and providing resources to support the long-term success of both job seekers and employers.
“This collaboration with BTF is a crucial step in helping our members strengthen their teams,” says FSHCC president and CEO Julio Fuentes. “By working together, we will impact both Hispanic businesses and communities in Florida.”
Both organizations will leverage their resources and expertise to help “create a meaningful impact in the state of Florida.”
BTF is a nonprofit founded by the Leading Builders of America, dedicated to addressing the acute and persistent talent shortage in construction. BTF is committed to advancing the education, training, and career progression of young people and underrepresented groups in the construction industry.
