Two national organizations, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Institute of Buildings Sciences (NIBS), recently signed an agreement to collaborate on industry research about the design and construction of high-performance residential and commercial buildings. The first project that will make use of these newly pooled resources involves the creation of an online repository to house shared and outside knowledge. The goal of this digital collection is to gather and disseminate information on building science and performance from numerous disciplines and viewpoints.
The AIA and NIBS also plan to host a summit with leaders in architecture, construction, and engineering to discuss how good design enhances building performance and how to inform the public of those benefits. In addition, NIBS and the AIA will contribute to the Building Enclosure Science & Technology Conference this April in Atlanta. Read more about all of these joint efforts in the full release.
