Screen Shot 2013-08-09 at 1.17.44 PMThe percentage of female construction workers has declined 27 percent since 2007, when 1,122,000 females were employed in construction—the largest amount in 25 years.

However, even at 1,122,000, women were underrepresented as a percentage of total workers in the construction industry. At 2010's 818,000, women construction workers account for only 9 percent of all workers in the construction industry, despite the fact that 47 percent of all workers in the U.S. were women in 2010. So despite the fact that women have greatly increased their labor force participation over time, they still have trouble breaking ground in the construction industry.
