Beazer Homes—No. 23 on the 2024 Builder 100—recently broke ground on its newest energy-efficient community, GreenHouse, in Marietta, Georgia.
The Atlanta-based home builder is committed to building 100% of its homes to standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home program by the end of 2025. At Greenhouse, this means 591 homes will be so energy efficient that a renewable energy system could offset most or all of the home’s annual energy use.
“Our team is very thoughtful about our impact to customers and our communities, and a big part of that is doing things that others can’t or won’t do,” says Allan Merrill, CEO for Beazer Homes. “That means building homes to a higher standard than anything that is required in the city or in the state. These homes are more durable, more comfortable, cost less to operate, and they reflect the value we place on being good stewards.”
At the groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 20, Beazer Homes unveiled plans for the community, including miles of trails, parks, and gardens woven through the neighborhood streets and amenities.
GreenHouse will offer townhomes, ranch-style, and two-story homes, with every home certified as a Zero Energy Ready home.
“It is a neighborhood that speaks to our commitment to sustainability, while respecting and honoring the history of the family who called it home,” says Kyle Lyne, division president of Beazer Homes Atlanta. “Our vision is to create a vibrant, amenity-rich neighborhood experience offering places to gather, play, and relax. This groundbreaking takes the next step towards our vision becoming reality.”
With the addition of GreenHouse, Beazer Homes now has 12 communities in various stages of development in metro Atlanta, including actively selling communities in Atlanta, Cumming, Decatur, Powder Springs, Buford, Acworth, and Canton. Each community offers Zero Energy Ready homes.
