Single-family rental operator ARK Homes for Rent has named John Isakson as the company’s new CEO. Isakson comes to the role with three decades of experience across multiple segments of the public and private real estate industry, including finance, asset management, development, and construction/renovation management.
“I am honored to join the ARK Homes for Rent team,” says Isakson. “In a difficult capital markets environment, with the demand for quality homes on the rise, ARK Homes for Rent is going to continue to be a market leader in the single-family rental and build-to-rent sectors. I am committed to providing our investors an appealing return on their investments while creating thriving, holistic communities that push innovation and growth forward.”
Jordan Kavana, founder and current CEO of ARK Homes for Rent, will serve as founder and chairman of the company. In the role of CEO, Isakson will oversee the growth of the business and manage the company’s entire real estate portfolio.
“We are thrilled to welcome John Isakson as the new CEO of ARK Homes for Rent,” Kavana said. “John’s leadership and extensive knowledge in real estate and finance will be a great asset for our company to continue its trajectory forward as a leader in single-family rental and build-to-rent homes. We have been strategically planning a transition and took our time to find the best possible candidate, and I could not be happier to hand over what I started building in 2008 to John.”
In the role of chairman and founder, Kavana will remain “deeply involved” in the next chapter for ARK Homes for Rent, according to a news release.
“Under John’s leadership, we are set to continue to revolutionize the American rental experience,” Kavana said. “Though I’m stepping into a different role, my commitment to ARK Homes remains as strong as ever. I’m not going anywhere and will remain deeply involved in the business from a strategic standpoint and will be here for John to support him. I also look forward to exploring new board possibilities and other possibilities that align with my ongoing passion for real estate, health and wellness, and community development in the coming months.”
Isakson most recently served as the chief financial officer to Preferred Apartment Communities, a property management corporation that acquired and operated multifamily properties across the country. Isakson was part of the team assembled by John Williams in 2011 to take Preferred Apartment Communities public. Isakson also served as CEO of Williams Asset Management.
In coordination with its partnership with Electra America, ARK Homes for Rent aims to acquire or develop approximately $3 billion in single-family rental and build-to-rent properties over the next three to five years.
