Ron Betenbough, a co-founder of Texas-based Betenbough Homes, No. 45 on the 2024 Builder 100, passed away on Aug. 28, reports local newspaper Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. He was 83.
Betenbough began building houses in 1964 and founded Betenbough Homes with his son, Rick Betenbough, in 1992.
During his career, Betenbough was a member of the West Texas Home Builders Association, a local association with the NAHB and the Texas Association of Builders. He was active in the Lubbock, Texas, community, having served as the president of the Lubbock Lions Club, partnered with the Texas Boys Ranch, and founded Kingdom Towers—a Christian-centered transitional housing facility for men who are getting out of prison.
Ron’s son Rick died in December 2023 following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.
Betenbough Homes released a statement on Tuesday, remembering Ron as a genius dealmaker and visionary who loved the Lubbock community and devoted the last half of his life to serving and impacting it for the better."Ron was dedicated to bringing glory to the Lord through his work, always striving to be a faithful steward of the resources he was given," reads the statement from Betenbough Homes. "Ron’s love of people and his early desire to honor God in business sparked a legacy of love and faith with Betenbough Companies team members, customers, and community members that we continue to experience today."
Betenbough Homes CEO Jeanna Roach said Ron was more than an astute businessman and caring leader. “The things he taught me transformed me not only professionally, but personally and spiritually as well,” she said. “Ron embodied love. His legacy of service and outrageous generosity changed lives, and those things will continue to live on in Betenbough Companies.”
