Mungo Homes—a Clayton Properties Group brand—announced Geoff Shiley has assumed the role of CEO.
Shiley succeeds long-time CEO Steven Mungo, who will now act as executive chairman for the company.
“It’s an honor to step into the role of CEO,” says Shiley. “I am deeply committed to carrying on the legacy that Steven and his family have built over the past 71 years. I have seen Steven embody the philosophy that family and faith come before work, and his focus on taking care of one another extends to every employee, home buyer, and partner. I look forward to his continued guidance as executive chairman as we forge new paths of growth and innovation.”
Shiley most recently held the titles of president and chief operations officer and, in almost 20 years with Mungo Homes, has served in numerous roles, including builder, production manager, sales manager, division president, and regional division president. He oversaw the acquisition of Shugart Homes in 2019 and CraftMaster Homes in 2021.
Mungo joined the family business in 1981. Under his leadership, Mungo Homes grew from its roots in land development to a company with more than 550 employees in 10 markets across the Southeast, closing more than 3,800 homes annually with revenues exceeding $1.4 billion. Among his many accomplishments, he became one of South Carolina’s first Master Builders and was the youngest inductee into the South Carolina Housing Hall of Fame.
Mungo embodies the values of service and commitment to the community through leadership roles on numerous philanthropic boards. He is particularly proud of the Mungo Homes Foundation, which honors founder Michael J. Mungo’s legacy of giving with the mission: “To serve so that others are empowered to thrive.”
“It has been one of my life’s greatest honors to lead Mungo Homes and work alongside such an extraordinarily dedicated team,” says Mungo. “As I transition to the role of executive chairman, I remain committed to supporting Geoff, the executive team, and the company’s strategic direction. This is an exciting new chapter for Mungo Homes, and I have complete confidence in Geoff’s proven leadership and our team’s ability to continue building on our strong foundation. I look forward to seeing the company thrive and grow in the years ahead.”
