In today’s housing landscape, there are many factors driving demand for downsized homes. Single or two-person households are common, lot sizes in desirable infill locations are tight, and stricter lending standards mean buyers can’t afford as much as they once could. Smaller houses also tend to use less energy, making them better for the environment. A walk through history shows us that small homes can be irresistible when they are artfully designed with attention to detail.
