FourPlans: Cooktop Camaraderie

Although the kitchen has morphed into the prime social spot in the home, stovetop cooking can still feel a bit isolated. That’s because most layouts still put the range against a wall, an arrangement that admittedly holds some advantages (it’s easier to concentrate when you don’t have to make eye contact, and grease splatters stay contained). But for those buyers who really want to show off their cooking chops, these layouts present cooktops that face out.

Prime Spot at the Peninsula

This sleek modern home was inspired by the luxury beach homes of the Caribbean coast and features a fabulous courtyard that can hold a pool and spa. A folding glass-door system opens up the living spaces to the courtyard for outstanding indoor/outdoor connections. Do your buyers love to cook? The kitchen’s got them covered with a spacious peninsula (holding a six-burner range) that lets them interact with friends and family at the bar while preparing food. Later, owners can head upstairs to relax in the master suite’s luxurious tub or lounge outside on the deck. Three more bedrooms and a spacious laundry room complete the level. For even more outdoor space, check out the sundeck above the garage. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

Abundant windows and excellent sightlines make this one-story home a bright choice. From the foyer, the view goes all the way back through the great room (where a coffered ceiling and cozy fireplace create ambiance) and through to the back porch. A cooktop island makes it easy to look out while preparing meals, while guests can linger at the bar or in the dining room (and charge their phones at the e-space here). The master suite surrounds owners with luxury, starting with the privacy-preserving foyer, continuing into the large bedroom, and culminating in the deluxe bathroom. Secondary bedrooms have use of the hall bath, where two sinks, a large shower, and a sun tunnel create a modern retreat. The enormous bonus space upstairs invites expansion.
