In the Raleigh, North Carolina, metro, Southern Land Co. has plans to bring a new 1,271-acre master-planned community (MPC) and private golf club to Chatham Park.
Chatham Park, developed by Preston Development Co., will now include the Southern Land Co.’s MPC and an 18-hole full course, 9-hole course, and learning and practice facilities designed by golf course architect Tom Fazio, in addition to other developments like Storyliving by Disney’s Asteria.

The region, which claimed the top spot on Zonda’s Baby Chaser Index this year, continues to be a strong market for job growth. In the Baby Chaser report, Shaun McCutcheon, vice president of Zonda Advisory and Carolinas expert, said, “Jobs fuel household growth for the younger generations, which leads to household growth among multiple generations. If the fundamentals exist with solid household growth, additional housing is a necessity and demand for new housing will continue.”

In the planning and visioning stages, Southern Land Co. will roll out additional project information as it becomes available. The firm is known for MPCs including 1,500-acre Westhaven in Franklin, Tennessee, which will have 3,500 homes upon estimated completed in 2031.
