“Where Tomorrow Lives” is the guiding principle for the second phase of the KB Home ProjeKt, a BUILDER-sponsored program that explores health, wellness, and sustainability in volume home building. Scheduled to be revealed in January of 2019 at a Las Vegas-area master planned community, the concept home pulls together a team of collaborators including KTGY Architects, AndersonBaron, Delos Labs, National Renewable Energy Labs, and a number of supplier partners to showcase how to solve health and wellness concerns.

The ProjeKt will provide insight for the professional building community into how to design, engineer, and construct a cost-effective healthy home. It also implements universal design features and takes advantage of the share economy by offering flexible spaces featuring a moving wall and a locked-off upstairs suite with its own private entrance. This latest phase of the project keeps the sustainable aspects explored in its 2016 iteration intact and further spotlights key health and wellness matters, such as the quality of air and water, circadian lighting, noise reduction, resilient technologies, and sound sleep support. They will all be monitored by Delos’ Darwin system and the Google Assistant hub, including doorbell, locks, thermostat, appliances, light controls, and window shade motors.
