Emile Haddad was once the chief investment officer of Lennar Corp. and was a founding member of Lennar of California. During the recession, he launched FivePoint, which designs and develops mixed-used master planned communities in coastal California. Today, FivePoint is the largest developer of mixed-used communities in coastal California and owns and manages four communities that will include, in total, about 40,000 residential homes and 21 million square feet of commercial space. FivePoint went public in May, raising just shy of $300 million, thanks in large part to an infusion of $100 million from Lennar.
