Arthur Esswein serves as a business development manager with the Tesla Energy Business Development and Market Entry team.

Since joining Tesla Energy, Arthur’s work has focused on transitioning island electrical grids from petroleum to renewable energy.  Arthur’s interest in housing was catalyzed during hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico where Arthur worked to deploy small scale solar and energy storage systems at community centers, water wells, and homes. These systems provided reliable and inexpensive renewable energy in the absence of a functional electrical grid. Arthur is now developing programs to broadly deploy small scale renewable energy systems in new homes.

Prior to Tesla Energy, Arthur was a founding member of an energy storage startup which was acquired by Lockheed Martin.  Arthur holds a PhD from MIT in inorganic chemistry.
